Kyocera, a master amongst Japan electronis, has planned a 70 megawatt power plant project in the Southern Japanese city of Kagoshima. The project will be undertaken by partners, Mizuho Corporate Bank Ltd and IHI Corp. They will help in creating a mega solar plant that will aid in solving issues related to power supply that were causes by the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and destruction of nuclear power plants. (more…)
Dubai Abattoirs Tap into Solar to Save Fuel
Monday, March 26th, 2012The large abattoirs in Dubai are using solar energy for heating water. The Al Ghusais abattoir in Dubai has already started using water heated by solar energy. This heated water is used to clean the slaughtering halls and equipment. The Dubai Municipality eventually plans to extend this system in other slaughterhouses in Dubai. It has already fitted 210 solar panels that have the power enough to heat 70,000 liters of water daily, at 80 degrees. (more…)
Concentrated Solar Power Plant
Monday, January 23rd, 2012In Spain, Andalusia, near Seville, a high 100 metres tower is surrounded by gargantuan mirrors, that run about the tower in concentric circles. These rippling mirrors are able to track sunlight throughout the day and reflect it on to the tower where it is converted into solar energy. The energy created at the plant is sufficient enough to power 6000 homes. The name of the site is PS10. (more…)
GE Unveils Largest Solar Plant
Monday, October 17th, 2011GE has decided to instigate its Chinese counterparts and market leader First Solar by announcing its intentions to build the largest solar PV, 400MW capacity manufacturing plant in Aurora, Colorado, just east of Denver. Until now, the market graph was dominated by First Solar who produces thin film solar panels with an efficiency rate of 11.7 per cent. Although, the company plans to increase the efficiency to 13.5 – 14.5 per cent by 2014, GE thin film panels efficiency rate would already be 14 percent when its first batch rolls out in 2013.
